How are you feeling? What are you doing? Facebook wants all of us to constantly keep everyone posted with the latest ins and outs of our lives. While the latest Facebook update is getting tested, we now get a preview of the ton of options in sharing and oversharing that may be available very soon.

As reported by TechCrunch, Facebook updates in the future may support everything from smileys to represent what you’re feeling to links of movies you’re watching. Facebook statuses will then be set to become more visual and more expressive on what’s really going on in our lives. With emoticons and images galore, our News Feeds are bound to be livelier and more interesting once this feature rolls out.
On the other hand, this is an impressive strategy for Facebook to continue building up its social database. Based on what users input on the status updates, Facebook can then push out ads targeted to that specific user. Reading a sci-fi book right now, eh? Here’s a sci-fi movie recommendation for you. Watching the Olympics? Perhaps you’d like these new running shoes or this set of weights. It’s a truly brilliant tactic to get more information about the average Facebook’s user’s life.

Ulterior motive or not, this new update looks like a fun addition to Facebook’s repertoire. While some Facebook users are getting exasperated from having to see all the latest whines and rants of friends and coworkers littering up the News Feed, some are genuinely interested in what others are doing right now. Oh look, a friend’s attending a concert, maybe I should go too! Friend saying cuisine is superb at this restaurant, must try it next time then! Facebook statuses using this feature will surely stand out and offer a fun way to discover new things to do and places to be while browsing the News Feed.
