Whether you’re just looking to spice up your same old Facebook page or you’re a hardcore fan of Pirates of the Caribbean, setting Pirate English as your Facebook language is just really fun!

Setting Pirate English as your Facebook language completely changes everything about your Facebook experience. Searches become “scouring”, comments become “weighing in”, share becomes “blabber”, and the famous “Like” becomes the equally famous pirate expression “Arr!” It might take a little time to get used to all the changes from regular English but the discovery of what a term is in Pirate English is really cool.

If you’re all set to experience the life of a pirate, even in just a linguistic sense, here’s a guide on how to switch your Facebook language to Pirate English.

  1. Go to your Facebook home page and click the Gear icon in the upper right corner of the web page.
  2. Click on Account Settings
  3. Edit your Language settings which is the last setting in the General Account Settings tab.
  4. Choose English (Pirate) from the drop down box.
  5. Arr!! Scour for mateys!

Alternatively, you can just go to www.facebook.com/settings while you’re logged in and you can proceed straight to step #3. You can also use the steps outlined above to revert your Language settings back to standard English. While we’re at it, you can try your native language if you’re not from a primarily English speaking country or some other fun languages such as upside-down English!

Have you tried using Facebook in another language? Tell us what your experiences were and comment below.
