As you go on using Facebook and more Facebook applications, you will find an increasing number of published stories on your wall. For someone who uses a lot of Facebook applications and third-party applications, 90% of their wall will be news feeds regarding the applications and it will be at times really hard to see the stories or notifications regarding activities on that persons profile.
Many people may also have a lot of trouble having their wall clogged up with stories of friends activities filling up their profile wall in matter of some hours. Removing unwanted news feeds from the wall one by one can be really bothersome. So an easy way of cleaning up your profile wall will be to set some settings for the applications that you use on Facebook.
To go to your Applications settings, go to “Settings” and select “Application Settings.”
The following page will load and display all the recently used applications. See image below.

Before you do any settings change here, select “Authorized” from the “Shows:” drop-down list. This will list all the applications that you have used in Facebook so far. There may be some applications that you don’t use anymore, but you must remember that whenever you use some application on Facebook, you authorize them to use your personal information and even your friends information that is required for the application to work. So, make sure all the applications that you have used are listed there and remove those applications that you don’t use anymore.
Three options are available for most of the listed applications except those, which are default Facebook applications. The three options that we see here are:
1. Edit Settings: This option will allow you to set your desired settings for the application.
2. Profile : Clicking this option will take you to the profile page of that particular application.
3. X : This option allows you to remove the particular application. You must have noticed that some applications does not have this option. These applications are default Facebook applications and cannot be removed. Rest of the applications are those application that you have added to your profile and can be removed whenever you want.
Now, when you click the “Edit Settings” of any application listed there, a settings dialog box will appear. Within the settings dialog box, different applications will have different number of options. We will discuss here only the general settings that will be available in all the settings dialog box.
1. Profile tab: Under this tab, you will find the option to add that particular application to your profile. It may appear as a box or a section on your profile wall, mostly on the left hand side of your profile. You will also have the option to set privacy settings here where you can choose who can see that particular application information on your profile wall.
2. Bookmark: This tab consist of an option which allows you to bookmark that particular application under you Applications menu, which is present at the application bar at the bottom of the page.
3. Additional Permissions: This tab will have a single of many options depending on the application. The options available allows you to select whether you want a particular application to publish stories on your profile wall whenever you do some activity on that particular application. See image below.
