We have received so much input here at Facebook Login about this issue. This post is meant to condense these please for help from our readership into a message aimed directly at Facebook.
“Facebook, if your listening, you are experiencing at mounting customer service crisis.Thousands of your most loyal users have been unable to access their accounts for periods of time ranging from a few days to more than a month. Please increase the size of your customer service department to adequately accomodate your massive growth. You’ve scaled your technology and userbase, now scale the support side.“
We recently took two polls here at Facebook Login. Within just a few days hundreds of our readers resonded, indicating that many have been locked out of their account for more than a month. This is absolutly unacceptable.
Additionally, comments have been left by our readers on Facebook Login Help, Facebook Technical Support, and Facebook Login. For example, today someone named Linda made a post that charterizes the sentitment of these disenfranchised Facebook users .
Ok, it’s been a week now that I’ve been getting that Site Maintenance error. If I was at work they would have laid me off for lack of productivity. I’m considering sending a press release describing the dark vortex that is Facebook tech support. Enough is enough.”
Facebook acknowleged the access problem as far back as October 6th, and it looks like the problem is yet to be fixed. The team here at Facebook Login is going to stay on top of this story as it develops. If you are still unable to log into your account, check back here regularly for new information. I have been having this issue for about 2 weeks now. I can log in off and on, but most of the time I am NOT able to log in. I get this error message, or it tells me my log in information is wrong when I know that it’s correct.
Also, I have the mobile facebook app on my blackberry and off and on it kicks me out and I have to keep logging back in and as soon as I log in it kicks me out again. SO frustrating it makes me want to throw my phone away! It sure is nice to have facebook available to talk to my relatives that live out of state with this tool, however when it doesn’t funtion correctly it’s not helpful!
It’s not necessary to go on with my life, but it sure is nice when something is supposed to work that it either function correctly, or someone is working on fixing it. I work in IT so I know how that stuff works, and you don’t ignore an issue that is effecting this many people! There has to be a bigger problem here! FIX IT!!!

This happened to me today, too.
I’ve been having login problems for about 4 weeks now. sometimes when I do manage to get on the site, my friends have disappeared then suddenly re-appear and cannot interact at all ( However I can login to the mobile site and communicate there, albeit limited. Also, I have a facebook app 1.7 on my blackberry and this also logs me out, I have to keep logging back in and as soon as I log in it throws me off again . It makes me vexed , I had been thinking my hardware both notebook and phone had the problem, not facebook. Please sort it out
Hi – I’m so happy to see that I’m not alone! I’ve been having a problem for over a MONTH now! And, it’s the same problem that you’ve all been describing! I’ve sent numerous messages to Facebook to get help but NOTHING! Well, I did get one response saying that they were fixing the issue BUT THAT DOESN’T HELP ME!
So, what can we do to get their attention? I also depend on Facebook to communicate to family and friends and I have too much setup on my current account to create a new one. I actually refuse to go that route. They should be made to fix the issue that obviously exists! Why have a product available for users to use if they don’t want to support it the proper way!
THIS IS BEYOND FRUSTRATING!

Just happened to me just now… i thought it was my connection but once i logged on to my alternate account it’s good… but i still have everything on my main account.. when will my account return… it’s infuriating….
This happened to me today. My account has been acting funny for a couple of days, but I could still log in. I couldn’t get my notifications or accept friend requests. Today, I can’t login at all. Does anyone know of a link or technical support email I can contact to let them know my account is effected??? thx
It’s now October 24th – and I’ve not been able to login appropriately for nearly 3 weeks. Periodically, I can – but then I get bumped after about 2-3 minutes.
Though I don’t do business on FB, I do handle many social groups and fan pages – so not being able to properly update and respond to the emails is just not cool!
Please let us know when we can expect this to be fixed. That’s the LEAST you can do….

this just happened to me. i’ve been trying since 6 am to get on and am getting the site maintenance verbage. If this goes on for over a month, forget it and like others have said I refuse to start a whole new account because Facebook can’t get their act together!
I would like to know when my facebook page will “be available” I am kind of pissed right now what the hell. I get that you can have problems but what pisses me off is there is no place to leave you guys a message I had to search for a place and actually I don’t even know if this message is going to get to you anyway. Same problem here and am beyond disappointed with Facebook’s customer service (or should I say non-existent customer service). I get this is a free service but that doesn’t mean you should not take issues like this seriously! I’ve been dealing with this issue for weeks and like everyone else I’m not interested in recreating everythings. My account is a few years old and there’s too much to recreate. Hope they get their acts togther soon as this is ridiculous!!
I have had this problem for 7 days now!!!! I wonder how much longer its going to take to get it fix!???? Like others there is no way to contact facebook to say hey fix it!!! My friends think I defriended them!!!! Some are e-mailing me to say hey what happened to you and why did you defriend me! COME ON FACEBOOK GET IT FIXED PLEASE!!!!

I’ve been experiencing the same problem with Facebook. On 10/23, when I tried to access Facebook I received the message, “Your account is temporarily unavailable due to site maintenance. It should be available again within a few hours. We apologize for the inconvenience”. I was able to use the site on 10/24 and 10/25 but starting again today, 10/26, I’ve been getting the same message all day and cannot log in to Facebook. I’ve sent repeated messages to the Facebook developers, but have not heard back from them.
I’m tired of all this crap from facebook. Maybe I should go back to myspace. I never had a problem like this on myspace. Its been too long.
To reply to a few posts above, I have also had the same problem with my news feed being empty and having zero friends in my friends list. That happens on the rare occasion when I am actually able to log in to Facebook. Usually I get the message that my account is unavailable and to try back in a few minutes, then when I do that Facebook tells me to try again in a few hours. If any of you have spent money on Facebook games (zynga, spare change, etc.) try contacting them to force Facebook to fix this site access issue to give you access to the games that you have spent money on. And obviously, we all want to connect with friends and family on accounts that should be working!
Try clearing your browser’s cache (Google for “clear browser cache”). It worked for me using Chrome – back into my account!
It’s been doing the same ‘account unavailable’ crap to me, and it’s been about 5 weeks now. I’ve sent them 3 emails, 1 with screenshots for every page i get (account unavailable, must log in to see this page, account temporarily unavailable, new facebook user home page)
and I still haven’t gotten a single response.
Zoe, I have the same issue w/ 0 friends and a news feed with news from 2 days ago in regards to a new episode of House..

THis is the most frustrated I have ever been with a computer. I keep getting this same message that it will be fixed in a couple of hours and it is not. Is there are 12 step program for addiction to FB?
Just happened to me today! I was in earlier this morning then in the late morning I tried logging in and it says my account is unavailable due to site maintenance. AMAZING!!! So it says a few hours and now it’s going on about the 9th hour and from the previous posts it doesn’t look like this will be a quick fix. I have deleted cookies/cached files in hope that it would bring my account up but no such luck. What gets me is they seem to be able to change the news feed and mess with all of that without taking down FB for maintenance so what gives??? Frustrating!!!

WTF?! It just happened today, i go on a lot but i didn’t get a chance to till later today and that message popped up, its only been a few hours, but i am dying here!! please face-book fix this problem, it is very inconvenient and annoying, UGH!
