Now that we have created a group, we will see how to manage our group so that it works in the way we have planned. Running and managing a group is a pretty big tutorial, so i have broken this tutorial into 2 tutorials. In the first tutorial, we will see the different settings that we have over the group and the members. In the second part, we will discuss about the different features available in the group. Promote the groups and creating group’s event will be discuss separately.
To got to your group follow anyone of the methods given below.
1. Click on the ‘Groups’ icon located at the bottom of the page. Select ‘My Groups’ option and then select the group that you want to go to.
2. Go to your ‘Profile’. Select ‘Info’ Tab. Scroll down to the groups and select the group that you want to go to.
Once you do any of the two methods given above, you will be taken to the group’s page. A newly create group will look like the image below.

There is a whole lot of job to be done here. We will see each on of them section by section. By now you might have seen the difference between a member and a creator of a group, in the number of options available right under the page profile picture.
First of all upload a picture to represent your group. You can upload group profile picture in the same way that you upload picture/photo to be used as a profile picture. We will go through the different option available on the left side of the page under the profile picture starting with the first section given in the image below.

Message All Members : This option is just like your compose message feature. The only difference is, you can send the same message to all the group members at once.
Promote Group with an Ad: This option is use to promote your group with ads. This particular option will be dealt with in the coming tutorials.
Edit Group Settings : This option has four different tabs under it.
![]()
1. Under the ‘Customize’ tab, you will have the authority as the group creator to grant/deny the various actions that can be taken by members of your group within the group. When you are done with the grant/deny option for the activities that will take place within the group, go to the last setting. Here you’ll see the three types of groups; open/global group, closed group and secret group. Choose the group you desire and save.
2. In the next tab ‘Officers’, you can select officers for the group. All the members of your group will be listed there along with a ‘make officer’ option on the right. Click the option and type in the name of the position. Once a member is selected, you can edit his/her position name through the ‘edit’ option or remove them from their current position through the ‘remove officer’ option.
3. Under this tab, we will see and image like this.

Under the first option “Members’, all the members of the group will be listed. Towards the right end of every member, you will have two option. The first one ‘Make Admin’ option grants the particular member to the same power as you have on the group. The next option ‘X’ is used to remove a particular member from a group. Once you promote a member to Admin, he/she can promote other members to Admin or remove them from the Admin list.
Under the ‘Admins” option, all the members who have been made an admin by you or by someone who has been made admin by you before will be listed there. You have two options to use under the “Admins” option, “Remove Admin” and “X”. The first option will demote an admin to a regular member of the group while the second option will remove the person from the group. Note that if you are the creator of the group you can remove every admins listed. If you are an Admin of the group but not the creator, you can remove every other admin except the creator.
Under the “Blocked” option, all the people who have been banned permanently from the group will be listed there. You can unblock blocked/banned people from the Blocked page.
Under the “Requested” option, all the request made to join your group will be listed there. You can approve or deny their request. If your group is an open group then people can become members anytime, but if your group is a closed group, then you have to approve others to become the group members from here.
4. The tab “Invite” will load the invite page. All your friends will be listed. Select the people whom you want to sent out invitations. You also have the option to send out invitations through emails, if that person is not in your friends list.
Edit Members: This option will take you directly to the members page, which has been discuss above. It’s a shortcut for Edit Group Settings –> Members.
Invite People To Join: This option will take you directly to the invite page.
Create Group Event: Using this option you can create events for the group like meetings, parties, special discussions, contests etc
Leave Group: As a creator of the group you might not want to leave the group. If you leave the group, all your rights will be given to one or any of the admins of the group. If you want you can join the group again, but you will not get back your rights as a creator. You will only be a member of the group unless otherwise you are promoted and given you back your rights. If you had enough of the group and delete the group for good, remove all the members from the group and leave the group. When the last member of a group leaves the group, the group will cease to exist.
Below the “Leave Group” option you will see various, sections of information about the group. You can edit them by clicking on the edit icon, small pen like icon present at the title bar of each section, and select the desired option.

I’ve got a group with about 3,000 in it. I need to learn how to find a specific member within the group who has requested to be removed from the group. “Edit Members” brings up an un-alphabetized list. The small search box (at least I thought it was) doesn’t work.
How can I alphabetize the list or if that is not possible, how can I locate one member?
