Now, its time to search for friends and people we know and add them. The Easiest and most accurate way of finding people we know is through their email. If they use multiple emails, then it might be a bit hard to find the people we are looking. Anyway, have a look at the different places in your profile where we can go to find and add friends.
You can use the links labeled 1,2 and 3 to find friends, families, relatives or people you know. Link 4 is used to invite friends who doesn’t have a facebook account yet. Link 1 and 2 are specifically for finding/searching for people. Link 3 can also be used for searching for people/friends, though it is little complicate if you don’t know the exact name. It is used to search a whole lot of other things, just like a search engine.
Click on either link 1 or link 2, you will be taken to a page like this:
Here, you’ll see that you can find people by uploading your contacts from your emial. Personally, i have never used this option even though it is really an easy way to find friends. You just need to enter your email and your email’s password (remember, your emails password), then facebook upload your contacts from your email and checks whether any of the emails listed in your contacts have been used to sign up for a facebook account. Then, it present you with a list of those people whose emails are in your contact list and are already using facebook.
Below that, you’ll see some suggestions of people who Facebook thinks you might acquainted with 
. If you happen to know any of the suggested people, all you have to do is click on ‘Add as Friend’ link. A dialog box will appear where you’ll have the option to enter a personal message, send request, and cancel button. When you click on the ‘send request’ button, another dialog box will appear with captchas. Enter the captchas and submit your request. It wil remain pending until the person you send the request either accepts or deny your request. If the other person accepts your request then he will show up in your friends list on your profile page. It will look like the image below.
Third option can be used to find people by entering their names or emails. Below that you have other options like finding former high school classmates, university classmates, current or past coworker etc. All you have to do is enter the person’s name or email, school’s name and year, or company’s name. When you enter the required entry and search, facebook will give you a list of all those who people who passes your search criteria. Surf through the list and add them as described in the previous paragraph.
Once you have found a friend, an ideal way of finding common friends is to go to your friends profile. Go to your friends area located on the left side of your profile wall and click on his profile image. Once you are in his/her profile page, click on ‘See All’ option located just above his friends list. Then surf through his/her friends list. If you come across anyone you know, then add them by following the previously discussed process.
