In this tutorial we will see how to use the ‘Notes’ application in facebook. Notes can be anything that you would like to publish in facebook, but unlike status messages, they will stay under you ‘Notes’ page unless you delete them.
To write a note, take the following steps:
1. Go to the Notes application located at the application bar at the bottom of the page. If you do not see the Notes icon or find it in the Applications menu, type “Notes” into the search box at the top of the page and follow the link that appears.
2. Click the ‘Write a New Note’ button located at the top right side of the page. An image of ‘Write a Note’ page is given below.
3. Enter a title for your note and write your note. Uploading picture and tagging people will be discussed further down the tutorial.
4. To control who can see your note, use the drop-down privacy menu near the bottom of the page and select the desired option. By now, i am sure you know what the different privacy options does.
5. When you’re done writing, you can preview and check how it will look like through the ‘Preview’ button. If you want to discard and start a fresh not make use of the ‘Discard’ button. Clicking ‘Publish’ button will generate a story about your note and save the note in your My Notes section.
Adding Photos to Notes
To add photos to a note, follow the steps:
1. Go to the photos section below the body of the note, click “Browse” to find and upload the image you want from your computer. Once the image is uploaded, you will be given the option to write a caption. The photo will then be assigned an identifier, like ‘<Photo 1>’ which you will see in the body of the note. Scroll up and check it.
3. Copy paste this identifier text i.e <photo 1> to the place in the note where you would like the image to appear. Next to the photo thumbnail, you will have the option to determine how you want the image aligned/appear on the page (centered, right, side of the page, etc…)
3. You can also select pictures from your existing albums. Just click on the album from where you want to select the picture. Here too, copy and paste the identifier in preferred place and select the alignment.
4.Click the ‘Publish’ button when you are finished, or ‘Save Draft’ to make more changes in the future before publishing your note. To view drafts at a later date, click the ‘My Notes‘ link on the Notes main page, and then click the ‘Drafts’ tab.
You can use as many pictures as you like in your notes. Just make sure that you don’t over use it.
Tagging Friends in Note
When you are writing or editing a note, there will be an option on the right side of the page to ‘Tag people in this note.’ Type one of your friends’ names in the box, and then select that person’s name to tag them. We will also suggest possible matches based on a quick scan of the text. When you tag a particular friend, your note will appear in their ‘Notes’ page under a tab called ‘Notes About + your friend’s name’
When you tag your friends in your note, they will be listed below the ‘Tag people in this note’ option. Under their names you will have to option to remove the tag anytime you want.
