Facebook Rolls Out New Privacy Settings

December 9, 2009

Facebook calls out to it 350 million users to review and update their privacy settings – first among major internet service, in an announcement today.

Facebook will also be rolling out easy-to-use tools to empower people to personalize control over their information – based on what the content is, why they are sharing it, when, and the audience they seek to reach.

The tools launched today are part of Facebook’s continuing innovation and a response to request from both users and experts. The new features include added control for each piece of content users share, simplified privacy settings, help in choosing settings, and expanded privacy education materials.

Facebook is also removing its regional networks, as announced on Dec 1. This is going to be quite a lot to take in for most users, so it is providing a transition tool to make the process easier along with recommendations on settings and privacy education materials.
