Most of us know that Facebook Connect was officially opened for all developers exactly one year ago. Lots of buzz had been created by Facebook since its luanch. Facebook’s identity service is in the lead with more than 350 million registered users at present.
The buzz continues with the recent one being MySpace’s roumered adoption of Facebook Connect . If things go well, then we can expect MySpace churning out a number of Connect features by early 2010.
Coming right at the heels of Yahoo announcing Facebook Connect implementation by early 2010, the extend of MySpace’s Facebook Connect integration isn’t known yet, but we can expect MySpace music and video footage being shared on Facebook.
Many were surprised when Yahoo announced Facebook Connect integration, but this move by MySpace is even more surprising taking into the account that Facebook and MySpace have been big rivals in the past.
Sheryl Sandberg, Facebook’s chief operating officer, told The Telegraph: “Facebook is focussing on building the best technology which helps people share content, while at MySpace they are focussing on more a content-led strategy. We would like to have their content, as we already do with many other sites, shared across our network because it is good for our users.
Owen Van Natta, MySpace’s chief executive, formerly Facebook’s chief revenue officer, also confirmed the two companies are in talks.
