One in Five Employees are Friends With Their Boss on Facebook

February 19, 2012

One in five employees are friends with their boss on Facebook according to a survey.

The result was based on a survey of 1,000 adults conducted online by Russell Herder. The sample size is very small compared to the over 850 million Facebook users, and result of online surveys can be skewed as the participants tend to be more technologically-inclined. So, the real proportion may be way lower, but the results are interesting. So, lets have a look.

Some interesting findings of the survey include:

  • 21 percent of employees are friends with their boss, especially those in the younger age categories.
  • 5 percent of the respondents used to be friends with their bosses on Facebook, and wish the poll had asked which party had ended the friendship.
