Many of our users are reporting a strange new phenomenon when trying to log into their Facebook accounts. Here’s what happens:
- Facebook user goes to www.facebook.com
- User types in username and password, clicks login
- User is confronted with a page filled with strange symbols and characters
This is most likely a bug on Facebook’s end, the only advice we have is to wait it out and hope that Facebook becomes aware of the issue and fixes it as soon as possible. The strange symbols at login were first reported by users of this site over a week ago, so it’s likely that Facebook is aware of the issue and hard at work on a fix.

I either get weird symbols or it trys to download facebook like its opening a file saying site is unavailable or can not be found.
I am having the same problem sometimes it lets me on and sometimes not. Its been way over a week HELP

Gosh, I have been having this problem for about a month. I would have hoped that Facebook would have fixed this by now. I cant get on most of the time,then if I do I cant do anything at all for fear of this happening all the time.
Having the same problem. Had to do a system restore and could only get on facebook about 1/2 the time. Would either show the page with symbols or ask to download file. Thought I needed to do another system restore..haven’t been able to get into facebook at all since that system restore. I have been having this problem for about a month. I don’t have any trouble getting on facebook on my computer at work. HELP!!!!!
I still can not log into facebook. This has been going on for over a week. All I get are these crazy symbols. I am not able to even get to the login screen. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!

Wow, Very glad to find this site and to find out I am not the only one. It has been happening now for two weeks and I am getting very frustrated!!!! It seems to be the “Home” and “Profile” that are causing the problems. I had a way to get to my applications (which isn’t working now) and they were fine until I clicked on Home or Profile. Please get this worked out ASAP!!!!!!
I’ve been trying to login to FB for the past couple weeks from my computer and even b4 I try to login the page is full of symbols. Sometimes I will successfully get to login, but when I try to navigate to diff pages or look at pix, it goes to that symbols page. But, the computer I use at work has no problems when i login to FB there. Very frustrating…
Same thing for about two weeks now. Extremely annoying but not mission critical TG. Unbelievable that the fb people will not address their users.

I am having same problems sometimes I cant even log in it keeps coming up with a message find file, save, cancel before I can get anywhere, and then if I try and search for friends it comes up with the strange simbles.
I’m glad I’m not the only one experiencing this problem. What’s up with the strange symbols? Can the facebook team please hurry up and fix this problem?
I have also been trying to log into Facebook for weeks and getting the page of strange characters and symbols before I even get to log in. It’s been very frustrating. It works on every other computer, but on mine, it is just so difficult. When will this be fixed? And why does it happen to only a few and only on certain computers?
Ditto to all of the above. This has been happening to me since August, but for the past week I can’t even “trick” it into opening by any of the methods that used to buy me a minute or two (googling facebook login, using a different browser, etc.) I have been able to get on my account through the ipod app, so it is still there…..Wondering how long it will take for these messages to filter through to FB, since none of us can contact then directly!
ok this is my second post on here the only way that I can even get to my apps on facebook is to google facebook and usually farmville(I avidly play) and usually can get to the apps but not home page or profile. When i am able to get the profile to come up if I have requests i do them but DO NOT i repeat DO NOT click the yes I have others to accept. just use the back button on the browser. You have more of a chance of being able to atleast access that part. that is the only ways that I have been able to acomplish half of what I do on there.
like everyone else here i have been having this problem for a month at least, I copied and pasted a bit of it on my page when i could log in. Only one other person knew what i was talking about. If you look underneath your login you will see where it is written : English, Spanish etc. you will also see those symbol. Click on it and see what the message says. Its a little bit interesting.

Our home page has been doing this for a month. Please fix it and let the public know what you are doing.
Soooooo irritating. I have learned that the button F5 will not fix everything.
Got so irritated with these symbols… Would appreciate something can be done to solve this problem. It’s a waste of time trying to refresh and re-open the website again and again and again..
