In a recent Washington Post article titled “Facebook, answering privacy concerns with new settings“, Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg responds directly to the recent backlash over the release of private user information to advertisers. The crux of the issue is that Facebook now shares users information by default and a user is required to manually change his or her privacy settings in order keep their information hidden from anonymous users and advertisers.
Zuckerberg’s solution is to provide Facebook users with an easier to use privacy control interface. This is a step in the right direction, however many people aren’t satisfied with the response and would rather have their information remain private by default.
So what do you think. Is an easier to use privacy control panel enough, or should full privacy be set for each profile as the default, unless specified by the user?
