James Grenfell, of Braintree, Essex, was arrested in Scotland for having sex with a 13-year-old Devon girl whom he met via Facebook.

The 22-year-old man has been jailed for 18 months after admitting having sex with the girl.

He admitted to three charges of sexual activity and a fourth charge of meeting a child following sexual grooming at Exeter Crown Court according to the source.

Det Sgt Brian Slade of Devon and Cornwall Police’s child exploitation unit said after the case: “The internet is a wonderful resource which provides a fantastic opportunity for learning and communication.

“Unfortunately, this does also present opportunities for those with a sexual interest in children – grooming is a very worrying concept for any parent.

“One of the most important things is to ensure your children are chatting to people they know in the real world, not purely in the virtual world.

“If they do not, they can never be really sure who they are talking to.

There are things that should not be posted in anybody’s Facebook account. These things include writings and photos that could offend people, as well as those that could cause the owner of the profile to look guilty about something.

Last Saturday, the police received a report about an incriminating picture. It was a Facebook photo of baby with an unlit cigarette in his mouth. The police traced the photograph to a 6-month old child in Westcliff, Essex in the United Kingdom. Because of this, his mother, 18-year old Rebecca Davey, was immediately investigated. Thankfully, police found no immediate concerns, although the Rebecca did get some advice from them.

The report was sent by one of Rebecca’s online friends and initially received by The National Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (NSPCC), a UK charity organization that focuses on child protection. After the police visit, the issue was referred to social services, although the police said they will be visiting the family again. The reason for this is to check if the child is being taken care of properly.

Later, after the investigation, the mother logged in to Facebook to complain about how someone had reported her to the authorities regarding her baby’s picture and to say that no one was taking him from her. There were responses to her posts that took her side and one that contemplated if the baby will grow up well in such a family.

Although the photo may be hilarious to some people, it is just right that the photo was later removed from Facebook to prevent any misunderstandings.

Missing young athlete left an emotional message on Facebook before he went missing.

The family of Olympic hopeful Ross Clarke, 21, have become increasingly worried since he left his Essex home a week ago.

The rising 1,500m track star posted a note on Facebook in the early hours of Wednesday December 2, which read: ” Don’t ever take anybody for granted, because you never know when you might lose them, and you may never get a chance to say how you really feel.”

She said: “Ross has been missing for almost seven days now following some personal problems and we are very worried and concerned. If anyone has seen, heard or spoken to Ross, even on Facebook or the internet, please can you let the police know.”

“We just want to appeal directly to Ross to come forward and contact us to let us know that you are OK. We miss you and lover you very much.”

Mr Clarke was last seen at 1:30 pm lat Friday. Police have not been able to find any evidence of him in the city and he has not used his mobile phone or Oyster travel card.

Mr Clarke is described as white, about 6ft 1in and of slim build, with blue-green eyes. Anyone with information should call Romford CID on 0300 123 1212.

Since the athlete left a note on Facebook before he went missing, he might come to Facebook again to bare more of his heart or leave behind some clue. Whatever it may be, i hope to see this rising star come home again. May Facebook help the cops in solving another case.
