Facebook To Launch Music Service At F8 Conference In Sept. 22

Facebook is rumored to add music service at F8 conference in San Francisco.

Facebook is said to launched its online music service on September 22 at the company’s F8 conference in San Francisco. Facebook is not just partnering with Spotify alone for this service but will also be linked up with MOG and Rdio respectively. Besides other music services may join in later.

The plan to integrate music service is a part of the Facebook’s larger effort to improve the discovery of all types of media content on the site and offer a lot feature to its users.

The service will allow users to listen to music within Facebook. Apparently Facebook won’t directly host or stream any music or media, it will just serve as a media platform and leave the actual streaming of songs to partners. Facebook may still open this to other music services, and may possibly make the music platform open to other third-party developers.

Facebook spokeperson told Mashable, “There’s nothing new to announce”. “Many of the most popular music services around the world are integrated with Facebook and we’re constantly talking to our partners about ways to improve these integrations”.

Facebook haven’t confirmed nor denied the service. It simply said that it will discuss the following topics at f8 developer conference this year:
New Products: We have some exciting product announcements that enable a new class of social apps
Building Social Apps: Engineers and entrepreneurs share their best practices and strategies for building great social apps
Open Q&A: Facebook’s engineering and product teams answer your questions

If the latest buzz happens to be true then Facebook as a potential social platform will deliver the service to a huge number of people. We can look forward for the f8 conference to come up with some new breath taking features, as has always been the custom of this annual conference. You can stream live this event at: f8.facebook.com.
