Facebook’s virtual currency, Facebook Credits, is almost on it way for a full launch.

According to the blog, “Today more than 500,000 applications exist on Facebook, and the virtual goods within those applications (particularly games) have become an increasingly valuable part of the user experience. By providing a single, cross-application currency, our goal is to making transactions simpler for users, leading to a higher conversion rate for developers. Specifically, our early testing has shown that users paying with Facebook Credits are significantly more likely to complete a purchase than the average Facebook user.”

Apart form the full launch of Facebook virtual currency, Facebook has publicly announced that it plans to take a full 30% of the revenues earned for goods sold via Facebook Credits.

Some developers are said to have denounce that as being too expensive, but Facebook assures developers in the blog post they are going to invest “heavily in the ecosystem” by educating users and marketing the currency, testing out incentive to get people to try the credits, and seeding Credits in a way to promote repeat engagement.

Though this sudden proposal of 30% cut from the developer’s revenue will be felt as a big hole in the pocket, as Facebook assures, providing a single, cross-application currency, and simpler transactions will drive users to repeated engagement of buying virtual goods. This will also help to erase users reluctance to do transactions with third-party currency providers. And by the way, Apple also happens to take the same percentage from App Store sales.

Facebook is proving time and again how it can connect people with their near and dear ones, not only in the virtual world but also in the real world too.

The Jakarta Globe news reports that a woman in Palu, Central Sulawesi, Jakarta, has recently found her older brother, who had been missing for more than three decades, on Facebook.

Nurlianti Dehi told Metro TV on Tuesday that she last saw her brother in 1974 when Anton Dehi, in his early twenties, left Palu to find a job in Manado, North Sulawesi.

Anton maintained good contact with his family back home for the first two years, but in the third year Nuralianti and her family did not receive any news from him. She spent years trying to find her brother but was fruitless.

Her hopes of finding her brother raised when she heard about Facebook. She signed up on the site and began her quest, looking for any Facebook members whose last names were Dehi. Finally, she go tin touch with a girl named Risna Dehi, who turned out to be her niece, Anton’s daughter.

Nurlianti found out that her Anton and his family lived in Jombang, East Java, from her niece. Finally, After more than three decades apart, the two siblings reconnected over the telephone and confirm herself by swapping childhood stories. Nurlianti will visit her long-lost brother in the near future.

Kudos Facebook!

Sometimes a person needs to feel justified and go onto something that will help them to be able to argue and debate about current global issues or political issues of the day. With the advent of Facebook Analytic Polls a person is just able to do that. This application not only has many features it is able to help somebody to be able to see what other people feel about current situations. Also people are able to speak their minds freely by writing and arguing with other people. People can read new things from people from all over the world. Another cool thing about the application is that a person can either agree or disagree with a comment by clicking on the thumbs up or thumbs down button. I think that this application is not only a good way for people to become more politically and culturally informed but it is also another way for a person to be more free with their ideas and thoughts.

As a wise man once said, “It is always better to think and then write about life, and other things.”

What is Facebook Mobile?

August 7, 2009

Interestingly enough Facebook has jumped on the bandwagon for going digital. What is interesting is the fact that people can now receive news flashes, and other things via cell phone from Facebook. Some of the greatest moments in a person’s life is when they are able to see new things coming to fruition like receiving Facebook messages. Facebook is not only revolutionizing the internet networking but is also by going digital becoming more of a communication hub for many people. Also, by being mobile Facebook is helping people to learn more about mobile communications. As time passes people need to be more responsive towards others and by having mobile technology a person is just able to do that.

Another key aspect of Facebook mobile is that a person can be notified via phone that they have a friend request or that they have new news. Rather amazing I think.
