A Mother of a 13-year-old daughter got the shock of her life when she opened her daughter’s bedroom closet late Sunday night. She found a 19-year-old man, whom her daughter met on Facebook, was hidden by her daughter in the closet.
Detroit police spokesman John Roach said Monday night that Donal Hunter of Detroit is in the Wayne County Jail and that the Wayne County prosecutor’s office approved seeking a warrant to charge Hunter with two felony counts of criminal sexual conduct, punishable by up to 15 years in prison.
The girl told police they had sex in the bedroom of her east-side home, where she hid him Saturday night and Sunday until her mother found him and detained him until cops arrived, police said.
This case has those who deal with teens again waving warning flags about children using sites like Facebook and MySpace.
“This case illustrates that we must be diligent about monitoring what our children are doing on the web,” Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy said Monday. [Source: freepress]
This news left me guessing for some time whom to put the blame on; the ignorant mother, the wayward child or the irresponsible young man. It also left me wondering how the child could hid the man for two days, how the mother couldn’t know about it sooner or why the man so willingly stayed in the closet? But the bottom line dear readers is, please beware of what you do online and if you have young teens, be sure that you monitor their online activities always and stay safe and keep the skeletons from coming out of the closet.

Facebook chat works similar to any other chat program with more or less the same features such as emoticons etc. Although many features of Facebook chat functions are similar to other chat programs, there are significant differences in the implementation of the program. As an example, while many other chat accounts can be integrated in to a desktop chat client such as Pidgin, Facebook does not allow to access Facebook chat through a third party chat client.
