fb new message system Facebook Rolling Out New Messaging System WorldwideFacebook announced that it will be rolling out the new Facebook messaging system to all users.

Launched last November, it set the media abuzz, with many expecting it to be a “Gmail Killer” and something that would render traditional e-mail obsolete.

The new messaging system, as we all know, will treat all communications between people as a part of an ongoing conversation supported over a variety of devices.

Facebook is surely taking a long time to roll-out the feature worldwide. Ben Parr reports at Mashable that there are more than 4 billion messages sent by Facebook users daily and how Facebook is taking its time with the update to make sure it’s right.

The timing couldn’t have been better to make a great impact and gain acceptance, especially among teenagers, whose usage of email plunged 59 percent in a year according to ComScore.

Facebook announce in its blog, “We’ve begun expanding the rollout of the new Messages to everyone. Look out for it over the next few weeks if you’re not yet using it.”

You can go ahead and learn more about the new messaging system here.

Senior technology consultant at Sophos, Graham Cluley, warns about more rogue apps spreading across Facebook lately.

The first rogue app is said to come with a rather intriguing message:

“My First Facebook Status Was: Hellllooooo ??? Posted on May 2nd 2008 6:57am Find yours out Here! [Link]”

Won’t such updates arouse your curiosity? I am sure it will.

Leave the app alone even if your curiosity outweighs your judgement. It is just a status update from a rogue app and you will only find that your first status was also “Hellllooooo”.

The second rogue app is said to come with Facebook email as the bait like the message below:

Just got my own email @facebook.com! Quickly get one before someone takes your name [LINK]

This is also just another status update from a rogue app. Don’t bother with similar message too if they are posted via some apps.

Facebook will be rolling out the service to everyone soon. Just be patient and keep your private data to yourself.

For those who heard about it late, remove all references of the app from your wall and revoke the permission granted to the application. Check out this post for help.

As anticipated, Facebook introduced a new messaging platform that combines SMS, chat, e-mail and Facebook Messages.

The new system announced today, simplify the process of correspondence – simply click on a friend’s face, type a message and hit enter. On top of that, there are no subject lines, no cc or bcc. So, all the messages you exchanged with someone is simplified into a single thread.

Users will also able to get a @facebook.com email address.

Facebook’s new email service was anticipated by many as something that will be a Gmail killer seems a little overhyped.

According to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg, this new system is not an e-mail killer by a messaging system that includes e-mail as a part of it, and doesn’t expect people to shut down their other mail accounts.

Personally, I think I might use Facebook’s new messaging system more, but my old emails will be visited and used as usual. What is your take on this new messaging platform?
