What can one do with Facebook?

Apart from the usual social networking, it has been used for different types of causes and campaigns. Yesterday, we brought to you news about a singer who used Facebook to find and successfully make his debut single video.

There is one more thing you can do on/with Facebook – help a plant stay alive. Yes, that true! Creator Baskim Isai says on the plant’s Facebook page:

I’m Meet Eater: a real garden that feeds on social interaction. The more you talk to me, the more I grow! Become a Fan of my page and share a joke, a picture or a video.

An experimental plant in Brisbane called “Meet Eater” is literally kept alive by love and care of its fans on Facebook.

The Meet Eater, located at the State Library in Brisban is fed a measured amount of water through an automated system whenever people become fans on its Facebook page or write post on the walls of its Facebook page.

The plant also “purrs”, “coughs and splutter” when stroked or over fed and wails to catch the attention of those passing by if left idle for long according to the creator Bashkim Isai.

Meet Eater, launched to the cyber world two months ago, is said to be in its third incarnation. It has around 5700 fans at present. The number of fans reportedly jumped from 900 to 4500 in a week’s time drowning the previous two incarnation in the ocean of love. The third incarnation is said to be “much more water tolerant”.

Fans and visitors  can also watch live footage of Meet Eater at it Facebook page.
