Zynga’s FarmVille Takes Social Networking Game of the Year

fblogin farmville 300x229 Zyngas FarmVille Takes Social Networking Game of the YearThe 13th Annual Interactive Achievement Awards 2010 was held on thursday, February 18 as part of the video game industry’s Dice Summit conference in Las Vegas, NV.

Four of the most active games on Facebook — FarmVille, Resaurant City, Farm Town, and Bejeweled Blitz — were nominated in the category of Social Networking Game of the Year for 2009. FarmVille was also nominated for Outstanding Achievement in Online Game Play and Outstanding Innovation in Gaming.

The award for Outstanding Achievement in Online Game Play went to  Infinity Ward’s Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, 2009′s best selling video game. Scribblenauts, developed by 5th Cell Media, won the Outstanding Innovation in Gaming award.

The top honor in the “Social Networking Game of the Year” went to Zynga’s massively popular game FarmVille. With nearly 81 million monthly active players, FarmVille was a sure winner.

Zynga’s FarmVille has also won the “Best Social App Award 2009″ at The Crunchies Awards back in January 2010.

January 4-11 is FarmVille Free Fuel Week!

How can you get the “Lord of The Plow” ribbon? Well, you have to plow your land using a tractor. You can receive your first ribbon (yellow) after plowing 200 plots using a tractor. Your second ribbon (white) will be awarded after plowing the next 1,000 plots; your third ribbon (red), after the next 2,500 plots; and your last ribbon (blue), after 10,000 plots.

Those are huge numbers and may seem unattainable, especially with the high price of petrol. But fret not. Zynga will help you get those ribbons through the Free Fuel Week.

From January 4th to the 11th, every time you visit your farm, you will get free fuel! On the first day of your visit, you get 1/5 free fuel; on the second day, you get 2/5; etc.

You can also share fuel with your friends. There are two ways of doing this: The first is by sending 1/5 tank of fuel as a gift to your friends. You can do this by clicking on the gift icon on the upper left side of your Farmville screen. The second way is by posting in on your news feed. You can do this by clicking on the fuel can on the upper left side of your FarmVille screen. This will post 1/5 tank of fuel. Interested friends can then claim the fuel from there. Sharing fuel will not reduce your fuel stash.

Unfortunately, receiving 1/5 tank of fuel daily from Zynga is only available to those who are at least level 10. So for those who are still level 9 or lower: hurry, hurry, hurry! You may soon be able to take advantage of the free fuel!
