Facebook To Launch Music Service At F8 Conference In Sept. 22

Facebook is rumored to add music service at F8 conference in San Francisco.

Facebook is said to launched its online music service on September 22 at the company’s F8 conference in San Francisco. Facebook is not just partnering with Spotify alone for this service but will also be linked up with MOG and Rdio respectively. Besides other music services may join in later.

The plan to integrate music service is a part of the Facebook’s larger effort to improve the discovery of all types of media content on the site and offer a lot feature to its users.

The service will allow users to listen to music within Facebook. Apparently Facebook won’t directly host or stream any music or media, it will just serve as a media platform and leave the actual streaming of songs to partners. Facebook may still open this to other music services, and may possibly make the music platform open to other third-party developers.

Facebook spokeperson told Mashable, “There’s nothing new to announce”. “Many of the most popular music services around the world are integrated with Facebook and we’re constantly talking to our partners about ways to improve these integrations”.

Facebook haven’t confirmed nor denied the service. It simply said that it will discuss the following topics at f8 developer conference this year:
New Products: We have some exciting product announcements that enable a new class of social apps
Building Social Apps: Engineers and entrepreneurs share their best practices and strategies for building great social apps
Open Q&A: Facebook’s engineering and product teams answer your questions

If the latest buzz happens to be true then Facebook as a potential social platform will deliver the service to a huge number of people. We can look forward for the f8 conference to come up with some new breath taking features, as has always been the custom of this annual conference. You can stream live this event at: f8.facebook.com.

facebook1 Facebook Announced New Features For Good Reason

Facebook announced privacy controls

On Tuesday, Facebook has made some changes on the user interface just for good reason. In response to user request to give greater control over sharing their profile page, it announced that it will now let user pre-approve photos before their friends can post with their name attached. It will allow users to share exactly what they want with exactly who they want .

Although, currently you can still remove your friends tag but after being made visible to other users. But now the pre-approval photo tag enables you to approve or reject your friends tag. It will also apply to written post that you are tag in and also for pre-approving what others tag on your own photos and posts.

However, your friends can still add photo of you but what it does affect is whether you name is attached to it or not. Everyone can now tag anyone on Facebook, but the tagged person has to approve before the photo or post pops up on their profile. This new control feature will be on users’ pages, next to the posts and photos they share. The changes will be rolled out by Thursday.

Facebook is also making another change called ‘view profile as’, which makes it easier for users to view how one’s profile looked like to any other users. These new settings are part of Facebook’s move to handle privacy concerns and of course to give users more management over tagged photos and shared profiles.

Facebook announced that it has launch one-time passwords along with other ways to help users protect their accounts and themselves.

Many people may forget to log out and sometimes accidentally save passwords even on public computers. The one-time password seems to be a very smart safety solution by Facebook to help users keep their accounts safe. The new security feature will allow you to use a temporary password that can be used only once and will expire in 20 minutes.

The downside, you have to request it from your mobile every time you want to use the feature. Text ‘opt’ to 32665 (U.S. only) from your mobile to request for a disposable password. The password will be sent to your mobile. Make sure your mobile number is associated with your Facebook account. This feature will be available to all the users in the coming weeks.

This is a pretty cool move by Facebook, but this could also mean more trouble if you happen to lose your cell phone. Guard it with your life icon smile Facebook Finally Launches Remote Log Off Plus One Time Password . If you lose your phone, deactivate the number from your Facebook account as soon as possible.

Facebook is also finally releasing remote log out to all users. This feature allows users to log out of sessions remotely. You will be able to see your recent account activity and if you find any activity from unfamiliar device or location, you can end the session immediately.
