fb CityVille comingsoon 300x217 Zyngas CityVille Game Launching Soon

Zynga's CityVille

Leading developer of Facebook games Zynga is on the verge of churning out yet another game.

The game to be released was first hit the news few months back. The title of the new game is CityVille.

According to CityVille’s genereal manager, Sean Kelley, “CityVille is where Monopoly meets Main Street.”

In CityVille, players will take the role of a city manager and build infrastructure, start business, take care of transport, import and exports, and trade with other players.

Zynga says CityVille is its most social game. The beta version of the game will be available in five languages – English, French, Spanish, German, and Italian in the coming weeks.

Zynga has more than 225 million monthly users and holds many of the top spots in terms of monthly active users starting with FarmVille. Some other popular Zynga’s game holding a spot on the top 25 games in the past many months are Texas HoldEm Poker, FrontierVille and Mafia Wars.

The last game Zynga released was FrontierVile where players take care of their homestead, now has an average of 28 million monthly users. It was launched in June.

How CityVille will fare is yet to be seen, but given Zynga’s current run, let’s hope this game will also be as appealing as Zynga’s other titles.

fb toyfactory logo Facebook Game Review: Toy FactoryFuel Games, launched a Facebook game title Toy Factory few days back. The game allows players to build their own retro toy empire.

The objective of the game is to bring all the desirable toys (you ever wanted to own) to the kids of the game and bring a smile on their face, while you try to become the ultimate toy tycoon.

There are variety of toys that can be manufactured right from the retro 50′s robot to plush Teddy Bears to electronic console games and guitars.

The gameplay is easy. Players start out with a small factory and storefront. You will have to switch between the factory and store back and forth in order to keep your production line moving while making sure the shelves in the store are always stocked.

fb toyfactory factory 300x201 Facebook Game Review: Toy Factory

Players earn experience by manufacturing toys and game cash by selling them.

Players can manufacture different types of toys belonging to different categories like action figures, dolls, vehicles, games, plush, and electronic toys. The only limiting factor is the need to have blueprints before you can manufacture them. Players can also find some level and neighbor requirements in expanding their empire.

fb toyfactory RD 300x264 Facebook Game Review: Toy FactoryApart from experience and game cash, the game also features R&D points that can be used to research and unlock blueprints to manufacture more toys. R&D points can be collecting by visiting friends, through the daily spin-off, on levelling up. Toys are also unlocked when one levels up. Players can also purchase blueprint with real cash via the game credits.

Unlike many other similar games, products queued up for production doesn’t get spoiled even if you don’t clean out the inventory in time. But, keeping your production running and stocking up the shelves in the store will make sure you have a decent store rating, which will build up a long list of loyal customers for you.

fb toyfactory store 300x200 Facebook Game Review: Toy Factory

Regarding the social part, you can send and receive gifts, and visit friends’ stores. You don’t do anything there, but you can get R&D points and some tips, when you visit friends’ stores. The game features a top 50 section, which I suppose is enough to push many players into devoting more time.

The game is repetitive and doesn’t score well on the challenge aspect. Except for manufacturing and stocking the shelf, there are no quests to complete. While taking care of store rating and collecting blueprints and keeping an eye on the buying pattern of customer are for the serious players. The game lacks the fun and challenge to make a player visit the game every few hours, but casual players can enjoy the game at their own pace.

fb RavenwoodFair 300x226 Facebook Game Review: Ravenwood FairLOLApps’ latest title “Ravenwood Fair” has done pretty well in terms of monthly users since it launched.

The game is building sim, which is dark and spooky. Like I wrote before, the game basics are the same with Zynga’s FrontierVille, but you will also notice the game has absolutely nothing to do with farming. The goal of the game is to transform the spooky island given to you into a nice and cozy island where visiting guests can have tons and tons of fun at your fair.

fb RavenwoodFair1 300x208 Facebook Game Review: Ravenwood Fair

First of all, the game basics – once you land on your island, you will need to clear out the spooky trees little by little to make space for your fair. There are different games and buildings that can be build, which will raise the ‘fun’ rating of your fair, which in turn dictates the maximum amount of guest you can have at a time. You earn money, items and experience by harvesting trees, rocks, and beating up evil-wooden man and others who frightens your guests and also hypnotises you at times. You also earn money and experience from your guests when they play the games and use the buildings at your fair. Apart from that you will also have a queue of quests to earn from.

The game doesn’t have many items in the games and buildings section, but if you have played FrontierVille, you know how not-so-easy it is to complete a game. Yes, you will require different items to finish building them. Some or most items can be found by harvesting spooky trees and rocks, while some can be received as gifts from friends. You will also need to restock games and buildings once they are empty after specific uses.

fb ravenwoodfair shop 300x256 Facebook Game Review: Ravenwood Fair

Leaving out the special items, scores of decorations, and energy packs, we have one more category and they are called the “Protectors.” Remember, we are still on a spooky island, and no matter how populated such places are, the evil spirits roams free. These evil things in the forest and Domovoi will frighten your guest and you need to comfort them within a specific time limit or they will leave your island. The protectors help you in protecting and comforting them when you are not around.

Social element of the game is also pretty much the same as FrontierVille – you visit friends, help them, get energy and experience, send and receive gifts, help each other out by sending construction and quest items as well as fulfilling each other wish lists.

In the few days I played the game, it was fun trying to increase the fun rating of my fair. Graphics is above average and game play is fairly easy.

fb ravenwoodfair restock 300x203 Facebook Game Review: Ravenwood FairOne big difference from FrontierVille is, as I told you before, since there is no farming aspect, progressing in the game is tougher than you’d expect. This problem is overcome partially by the generosity of max energy and energy refill rate. Farming being the best source of earning gold and xp in FrontierVille, you will miss it sometimes. So, Pace of levelling up is moderate, and harvesting trees becomes repetitive at times. But the game is fun and challenging when you concentrate on turning it into a beautiful fun fair and there are no dread of quests and buildings to complete.

If you like FrontierVille and want to play similar game, you will certainly like Ravenwood Fair.

playfirst logo PlayFirst May Bring Diner Dash Game On Facebook SoonCasual games publisher PlayFirst is set to push into pushing into mobile and social games.

The publisher of the popular game Dinar Dash on various platforms has secured $9.2 million funding.

PlayFirst fail to make much buzz with its first Facebook game Chocolatier: Sweet Society, which took over four months to cross its 800,000 MAU mark. We hope Chocolatier was their trial and error learning game.

“With this capital, we will continue to aggressively optimize the PlayFirst brands that consumers love, like Diner Dash, to social and mobile platforms and look for growth through partnerships and potential acquisitions,” says Mari Baker, PlayFirst president and CEO.

The Diner Dash game series featuring Flo as the waitress is one of the most fun and addicting casual game outside Facebook. As a matter of fact, it is so addicting that there are 9 Diner Dash games (Pc, Xbox, iPhone), couple of collectors editions as well as spin-offs like Wedding Dash and Avenue Flo.

In Dinar Dash, you help the spunky Flo to seat, serve and clean up, catering to as many customers as possible in a limited amount of time.

Candy Shop is one of the emerging game on Facebook. The game is brought to Facebook by Tall Tree Games.

fb candyshop2 300x200 Facebook Game Review: Candy ShopCandy Shop, as the name suggest is a businness sim game, where players manage their candy shop. Most casual game players will be familiar with such games. The basic aim of the game is to make candies and sell it, slowly expanding your business.

There are different types of chocolates, candies, soft candies, and baked goods that can be prepared as one progress in the game. Different items have specific level requirements in order to be able to make them. Also, in order to prepare them, you must have the required machines, where you click to gather the ingredients and click when prompted to prepare the candy step by step. Each type of candy requires different amount of time to get prepared, and which should be placed in the display case to start selling them. Also, if you do not transfer a finished product to the display case in time, it gets burned.

fb candyshop3 300x207 Facebook Game Review: Candy ShopEach prepared candy have a fixed number of servings and once it is kept on display, customers starts coming into the shop and make their purchases. The users avatar carter to their needs automatically as long as some candies are there in the display case.

The game also features two fb candyshop4 300x228 Facebook Game Review: Candy Shoptemporary workers who can be seen sweeping the floor. As of now they don’t seem to have any use, as they keep on sweeping even if there are no visible thrash.

Unlink other similar business sim games, the game lacks active gameplay and competion. What i have noticed is that if some specific product on display has only few servings left or if all the prepared candies are sold, the player’s avatar just stay at the register until the customer stomps out of the shop. But there is no way to know which product the customer needs. Apart from getting angry and walking out the door, customer satisfaction doesn’t seem to play much in the progress of the game.

There are goals to complete, which are mostly about making new recipe and reaching particular level. The goals are shown on the left side of the game screen.

Like any other social game, players can send and receive gifts, invite friends to be neighbors, share bonuses, and ask each other’s help to be a sweeper icon smile Facebook Game Review: Candy Shop , may be a player’s friends can get most respectable job once the shop grows into a big establishment. Apart from gifting and visiting friends’ shop, players can also collect tips from each other and hire one another as workers. On top of that, player can share extra servings with friends wherever a recipe is prepared by publishing. Player gets half the amount of servings of the particular recipe they share in their gift box.

Detail information of each recipe is given in the recipe book. Players can also decorate their shop as well as their avatar.

The game is for very casual players as it lacks competitive and strategic play. The game provides little of no new feature that is notable. Though it was among the emerging game of the week, according to appdata, the game lacks what it takes to stay on the top ten list for long or am i wrong?
