Social Empires logo Social Empires Facebook Game ReviewSocial Empires is a real-time strategy game on Facebook. It is very much like the old Age of Empires PC game.

In Social Empires, players start out with a small area of land and a town center, where they can produce villagers and start growing their empire. Players need to produce and manage basic resources while protecting their empire from trolls and other Facebook players.

Game overview:

Resources – Basic resources in the game includes food, wood, stone, and gold. Food can be produce through farming and rearing cattle. While wood, stone, and gold can be collected through mining. Players can also earn gold by killing trolls, completing quests, and of course by attacking other players.

Empire

Buildings – Several types of buildings are available to build and are generally divided into 4 categories namely – buildings, defense, attack, and wonders. Except for wonders, all other buildings are divided into 5 levels with level one be the most basic type. As a one reaches higher levels, they will become powerful enough to build and own higher level buildings. Houses increases the maximum population limit of an empire.

Units – Villagers are the backbone of an empire and they are the resource collectors. They can be produced through the town center. Troops in the

game include swordsman, archers, Knights, and siege weapons. They can be produced once you built the necessary building. Troops, like buildings, also have different levels. Troops can be used either for attacking or defending. Remember that different type of unit eats up different number of your population slot

Social factor – Social factor doesn’t come into play much except for the daily gifting, sharing bonus, and visiting each other.

Social Empires battle 300x236 Social Empires Facebook Game Review

Battle

Battle System – In battling other Facebook players, the attacking party can use only their attacking unit, but are able to strategize their attacks. While the defender empire has both attacking unit and defense buildings to defend, they are  AI controlled. A battle can be finalized at any point of time by the attacker. The party who has more kills when a battle is finalize is declared the winner.

General gameplay – Villagers can be selected and click on trees or resources to collect resources. The same formula works for troops. You can also select a group of particular unit by double clicking on a unit. Resources have to be clicked every time to collect. Trees and mines (stone and gold) are fixed. Once collected, they will be replenished after fixed amount of time. Cattle have to be captured first before rearing. They don’t last forever and after producing food for a couple of time, it vanishes and you will have to capture them again as they spawn on the map.

Trolls are the other inhabitants on the map. At first they are pretty harmless and won’t attack unless provoked. But, as one progress through the game more aggressive trolls will spawn on the map and will attack your empire from time to time. You will also have to take on the troll camp from time to time to complete different quest.

Social Empires worldmap 300x257 Social Empires Facebook Game Review

Social Empires World

There are several quests to complete and is an easy way to collect gold. Gold is the most useful resource and is really difficult to collect them.

Once you reach level 7, you can start attacking other players and boss monsters, which is a quick way of making gold. But, stay away from those who have good defense else you will end up more than you loot.

Conclusion:

A note: My troops also disappeared without any reason in the beginning, but that was a one-time tragedy. Also remember to explore the map because your empire is only a small plot on the map.

One big downside in gameplay is micromanagement in collecting resources. Every farm has to be clicked to collect food. To collect wood, stone, and gold, villagers have to be selected, click on the resource to cut or mine, click again to collect when they are finished. On top of that, you have to do this for each and every tree or ore. It will be great a selected villager collects a group of resource at a place by giving the command only once.

Social Empires is a nice looking game. It is fun and addictive. Quest also becomes more challenging. The game interface gives a detail statistic of your resources, population, level, and the number of trolls alive at the particular moment. You can easily zoom in and out with the scroll of your mouse. Graphic is cute and detailed and surprisingly, the game also loads pretty fast. There is nothing groundbreaking in the game but definitely worth playing.

Each arena has different divisions and your ludus will needs different numbers of wins to reach the pro division fights. fb Spartacus game fight 150x150 Spartacus: Gods of the Arena Game, Walk through and ReviewFight mechanism – of the game takes into account the equipments and stats of the gladiator. Players can also cheer and jeer at the right time during fights to win the crowd – which will result in greater earnings, and even be able to save your gladiator when they occasionally lose the fight. One can also play dirty by using your influence to rig a fight. The game also provide your odds of winning a fight before you start a fight, and winning harder opponents earns you more rewards.

Social factor of the game play a vital role in your progress. You can visit your allies and train their gladiators. You can also challenge your friends and decided it out through your gladiators. You can also send and received gifts and bonuses with your friends by celebrating your achievements.

Conclusion:

Graphics of the game is fairly good. Battle scenes are animated but not remarkable. One downer of the game is game items. The game doesn’t have inventories where you can change available equipments. Old equipments are lost when equipped with new ones or..have I missed something here? It will be more interesting to customize equips before battle..hope the developers will update the game with such feature soon.

Crazy Caravans is a RPG game spread across the Saharan desert, to Asia and Europe.

Players in Crazy Caravans start out as a simple shepherd in the Saharan desert and will have to work hard to reach the European countries by trading goods, battling others, and robbing caravans along the way.

fb crazycaravan battle Game Review: Crazy Caravans Facebook Game

Battle system is like Mafia Wars and with customizable character stats that includes attack, defense, and speed. While the first two are self-explanatory, the speed stat seems to affect only the traveling time in the game and doesn’t count in the battle system.

fb crazycaravan1 Game Review: Crazy Caravans Facebook Game

There are no static tasks like in Mafia most of the other RPG. Traveling time between cities to trade happens in real time and the time of travel differs depending on the distance. Travel time seems to be proportionate to the amount of gold and experience gained as a reward of a journey.

At present, the game doesn’t have many items, but an interesting thing about items is – they are upgradable. So, items that you purchase does not become obsolete or low-level items as you level up.

fb crazycaravan premiumitems Game Review: Crazy Caravans Facebook Game

There are also lots of premium items that give your caravan bonus defense, attack, experience etc for a set amount of time – mostly a week. Just be sure to go to your profile and use the premium items that you have purchase to activate the premium item.

fb crazycaravan items Game Review: Crazy Caravans Facebook Game

The world of Crazy Caravan is rather small but you will be traveling between particular cities a lot.

Gameplay becomes a drag since it battling and traveling only. Graphics aren’t that bad and social element of the game is at minimum.

All in all, the Crazy Caravans doesn’t provide the fun and interesting gameplay as one would expect from the theme and game settings provided by the game. Adventure-itching gamers looking for new game to try can try out this new game.

Destiny Stone is a new side-scrolling RPG game on Facebook.

fb DestinyStone logo 150x300 Facebook Game Review: Destiny StoneIn Destiny Stone, you help Penelope in her quests to find and repair the Destiny stone and fulfil her destiny. You will explore beautiful fantasy world, learn spells, craft items, make friends and even go on romantic dates. The storyline is engaging.

The gameplay is largely built around side-scrolling segments and involves using your keyboard for gameplay when you are going on adventures, (which I believe is a refreshing change for old-time gamers on Facebook, where most games are played with the mouse) but easy to manage for the newbie.

To complete a level, you are given 300 seconds, and as you race through the level room, you will fight off monsters and clear out road blocks, both of which will give you experience and loot items if you are lucky.

There are two modes of gameplay – Adventure mode and Story mode. In story mode, you will get little cutscenes between levels that helps in developing a nice storyline where the main character, Penelope, is the only one who has the powers to repair the Destiny Stone and save Narissa. You will also come across a large number of NPC character, a bunch of which – called Guardians – can be hired to assist you in your quest.

fb destinystone home 300x221 Facebook Game Review: Destiny StoneLeveling up will make you more powerful by increasing your base stats, but stats are not customizable. However, the game has crafting and enchanting feature, where you can create and enhance a vast number of items.

Items can be enchanted to make them more powerful. You can also crafts items right from health potions to equipments to keys to unlock certain areas in the game. Also, remember that the probability of success during crafting or enchanting items is not 100 percent, and you will have better odds of success if you use boosters. You can easily buy items you need from the shop, but gold is hard to come by in this game, unless of course you are ready to start spending real cash.

fb destinystone crafting Facebook Game Review: Destiny Stone

Coming back to guardians, these are NPC characters with different powerful skills whom you will meet during your adventure. You will be able to hire them and continue your adventure together, and also unlock romantic dates with them.

Now, fantasy adventures are not fun where there is no magic. You will be able to create powerful items that will allow you to cast powerful spells. Spells will be able to destroy many items not breakable with your weapons.

fb destinystone adventure 300x227 Facebook Game Review: Destiny StoneThe game does not have any energy related feature as in most of the other social games. This means you can play as much as you like in one sitting. However, one limiting factor here is inventory slot – 8 slots in your bag and 12 slots in your storage slot is very very limiting, and on top of that similar items does not stack up. This will keep you running back and forth between the adventure screen and your home screen.

Social element of the game doesn’t influence your game much. The game has cute graphics, nice story line, and very much unlike other Facebook games. The crafting and enchanting system is vast and detail. Destiny Stone is a nice little RPG game that can hook you up for hours at a stretch. Just be warned that you will be doing a lot of grinding, which I believe is a nostalgic  part for many online gamers.

fb PocketGod logo Facebook Game Review: Pocket GodWhat would you do to an island inhabited by Pygmies if you have godly powers?

The question might ring a bell or two for many of you. Bolt creative has launched a beta version of their hit  iPhone game “Pocket God” on Facebook.

Comparing with the iPhone game, the Facebook version features the the social elements of course, exclusive powers and yippee! female Pygmies icon smile Facebook Game Review: Pocket God . You can now send your friends to the netherworld along with the Pygmies.

Check out the Facebook version of Pocket God game.

Here is a quick review of the game for those unfamiliar with the iPhone game.

In Pocket God, you will mostly take the darker avatar of god, spawn Pygmies, and sacrifice them in one or many of the crazy ways.

You will start out as the god of two-Pygmy Island, but as you progress through the game, you will have control over larger island and more Pygmies.

fb PocketGod sacrifice 300x244 Facebook Game Review: Pocket GodEven if you want to be the benevolent and compassionate god, your righteousness and conscience will be tested, as you will gain experience and sacrifice points by sacrificing Pygmies. The game has devotion points, and every sacrifice will eat up a point of devotion. Apart from that you will also have to make sure that the devotion meter is turned on so that your perverted-fun killings are counted as sacrifice and not genocide.

Sacrifice points are the game’s currency. As you level up, you miserable, deity wannabe will start having access to godly powers like the power to alter gravity, hurl lightning bolts, summon tornado and hailstorms etc. giving you the power to thrown off those cute Pygmies from the face the land or burn them down to ashes. Apart from that you can decorate your island with volcanic mountains, pits, Pygmy-eating venus flytraps and sharks to finish the job in the water. You also have different idols that provide various bonuses.

fb PocketGod power1 Facebook Game Review: Pocket God

As you play the game, icons will come up besides the Pygmies. You will earn devotion points by providing their needs (the things depicted by the icon) and be the benevolent god for a change.

The gameplay is not as dark and gory as it sounds. The graphics are not great but very cute. You don’t know how these cute Pygmies act when their hula (if I may call that) skirt falls off, or gets themselves a drink from the refrigerator. If you are in the mood to commit genocide of your friends and cute Pygmies, Pocket God is a game to try out. The game gets monotonous at some points but the curiosity to try out all the crazy ways to satisfy your psychotic killing ways will keep playing the game.

Knights Of The Crystals is an RPG game from Square Enix Ltd. This game gives the player a chance to take on the role of various character classes and explore the rich in-game world and take down monsters and other players with trustworthy friends and NPC as their companions.

The game starts with you fleeing for your life, and close on your heels are the Goblin henchmen of the secret society known as Arcana and Company. Then, you meet a woman named Leyna who will guide you through the game.

fb Crystalsoftheknight quests 300x238 Facebook Game Review: Knights Of The CrystalsIf you have played Mafia Wars or similar games, then the gameplay is almost the same. In fact, 500+1 players will define how powerful or weak you are in the game. You will have customizable stats at your disposal to develop your character in various ways,  and AP (Action Power or energy) and BP (Battle Power) that will be used to perform task and fight against other players, and both of them gets recharged over time. Apart from that you have Hit points to take care of, companions (both friends and NPC) that will help you in becoming more powerful and in quests, and chest box (banks sort of thing) to keep your gold safe from other aggressive players.

Players start out as a novice. New characters classes like warrior, healer, machinist, paladin etc will be unlock as you progress through the game.

fb Crystalsoftheknight profile 300x236 Facebook Game Review: Knights Of The CrystalsYou can choose to play any of the available class. Each class apart from the novice will give different bonus stats and skills like increased attack or defense, or reduce the amount of gold for using recovery etc. But, the bad thing is you cannot change the classes repeatedly. Once you choose to play a particular class, you will have to wait at least 23 hours to change to different class again, or else be ready to pay some cash credits.

There are two different types of quests in the game. First type is the normal quests which have different difficulty levels and needs to be performed repeatedly to complete. Once all the quests in a particular map are completed, they can be repeated at the next difficulty level.  The second type is subjugating Boss monsters, which will be available at specify points on the map. You get to select two companions, either NPC or friends characters to aid you in the battle. There are no progress bar or difficulty levels in such quest.

fb Crystalsoftheknight map 300x235 Facebook Game Review: Knights Of The Crystals

Experience and gold coins are earned while performing quests. Apart from that you can also find rare treasure pieces. If you can collect all the pieces of a treasure, you will be rewarded with artefacts that have bonus stats to make you more powerful.

Quests become harder as one progress on due to specific requirements to perform the tasks. In-game items like weapons and armours can bough with gold coins, but you will need to be ready to spend some cash credits if you want to own and have the benefits of uber-items.

fb Crystalsoftheknight chest 300x237 Facebook Game Review: Knights Of The Crystals

Right into the game I wasn’t making a lot of game coins, and I found that it was being looted when I lost to other players in fights. The game has a Chest feature where players can stack up their hard-earned money. But, then again the chest has different levels and needs to be upgraded with the help of friends to increase the maximum amount of money one can deposit.

Social elements like sharing loot items, number of members in your guild, exchanging gifts, and helps from friends will play a major role in the way progress and enjoy the game.

This is a brand new social RPG game (as a matter of fact, almost a week old) with a rich world filled with lots of fun and challenges, and not to mention the more-than a dozen class to play with. The story line that runs through the game is also great and does a decent job. In-game animation is less, but the graphics are different from other games and is quite refreshing. If you are longing to play new Mafia Wars-like games or with monsters and swords rather than guns and thugs, this game is what you are looking for. I won’t be surprised if this game makes it into the most explosive Facebook games in the coming weeks and slowly to the top 25 monthly chart.

So far, the company itself doesn’t develops social games for the site, but it’s a good thing the company keeps coming up with updates and more features to carter to the needs of its users who regularly plays game on the site, which is almost 40% of its user base.

This new feature if launched will follow the recent gaming dashboard launched by the company in their effort to provide an enriched gaming experience to its users.

Apparently the tech site contacted Facebook on the news and Facebook confirmed that they are working on something.
