Time and again, Facebook users seem to overexpress themselves, and the result weren’t too good.

The latest victim of Facebook post to make the news is a Michigan juror who was removed from a trial after posting verdict on Facebook before the case concluded.

Hadley Jons, 20-year-old,  juror in a case of resisting arrest reportedly wrote on her Facebook post, “actually excited for jury duty tomorrow. it’s gonna be fun to tell the defendant they’re GUILTY. :P .”

Fortunately or unfortunately, son of defense attorney Saleema Sheikh discovered the post.

Jons was promptly replaced with a alternative. She could be charged with contempt of court, and the decision for which is due Thursday, Sept. 2.

Last week, an excited Swedish schoolgirl posted how she and her friend were going to bug their teachers on Facebook and got themselves charged.

Two schoolgirls from Stockholm, Sweden were taken to court for trying to bug their teachers during a meeting.

A report on The Local says, the two girls came up with an idea to listen to their teachers during a grading conference. They bought basic bugging equipment from gadget shop and planted the device in the staff room after school.

One of the girls who must have been too excited couldn’t hold herself back, and revealed everything on Facebook.

They were caught and prosecuted for trespass and arbitrary conduct and fined 2,000 kronor ($270) each.

The two were reportedly hoping that the information they can gather through the recordings would help them improve their grades.

I wonder how their grades fared, but one thing for sure, listening to teachers (illegally) will get you in trouble.

Cassi Van Den Dungen, 17-year-old Australian model, recently went to France to find modeling work for Paris Fashion Week, and got herself in a controversy by posting some outrageous post on Facebook, after returning home empty-handed.

According to a report by The Daily Telegraph, she labeled the French as “frog eaters” and “snail “slurpers”. She also took on the “Frasians (French Asians)” by calling them as “idiots” to which her boyfriend Brad Saul, a model who also failed to find work in Paris, added “And they can’t drive.”

As for IMG, well, “all these people are f***** in the head: the agency is trying to run me, not the other way around.”

The reason for her outburst is:

“It was really tough. We couldn’t understand anything. Every person we met, besides from the people in the hotel and IMG were being really rude,” said Van Den Dungen.

“Things like going on the train and asking for directions and people were rude, so I was just having a bad time and I took it out on Facebook,” she added.

She has publicly apologized in Australia’s leading newspapers.

“I was having a really bad day and I shouldn’t have taken that out on Facebook – I regret that,” she told The Sunday Telegraph as report says.

“Before I left, I thanked IMG for everything they did an I really appreciated everything. I shouldn’t have said what I said; it was a stuff-up.”

“Paris is one of the hardest gigs in the modeling world,” explains Vitolins. “It was her first big trip and she couldn’t take it. She is basically just a girl from the suburbs.”

A spell of students being suspended regarding Facebook post and misuse grabbed the news in the recent past. Now, it seems like it’s teacher’s turn. Last week, an East Stroudsburg University professor was suspended over a Facebook post.

Now, according to a report on the Telegraph, a teaching assistant accused of using Facebook to mock a four-year-old who cried in class has been suspended.

Parents have reportedly started a petition demanding that she is not allowed to return to work at Lowerhouse CE Junior and Infant School in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire.

Yamine Judge allegedly posted a message on Facebook saying she found it “funny” when the pupil, Faye McDonnell, burst into tears after being punished.

Faye’s mum, Louise McDonnell, said that Faye suffers from laryngitis and she started breathing heavily and became upset after Ms Judge told her off.

The school’s head teacher, Paul Scrimshaw, reportedly apologized for the incident and told that even if Ms Judge comes back to work, it will be with the older children.

But, Ms McDonnel is not satisfied with it and is said to have gather 60 signature already for a petition demanding that the teaching assistant be barred from returning to the school.

The Israel Defense Forces called off a raid in Palestinian territory after a soldier posted details of the operation, including the time and place, on Facebook on Wednesday, Haaretz reports, quoting Army Radio.

The soldier described in a status update how his unit planned a “clean-up” arrest raid in a West Bank area. He is also said to have disclosed the name of the combat unit. His Facebook friends reportedly reported him to military authorities.

“On Wednesday we clean up Qatanah, and on Thursday, god willing, we come home.” the soldier wrote on his Facebook page, referring to a West Bank village near Ramallah, according to the source.

The soldier has since been relieved of combat duty.

Lucky for him that his unthoughtful post was reported and actions were taken in time. God knows how many people would have died if they went about the raid without knowing that their mission plan is out in the street.

Just a few days back, the U.S DoD opened up its doors to social medias like Facebook and Twitter. Hope that we don’t hear about someone updating, “Headed to Baghdad for an emergency air strike!!” :)

Social media has its own bright and dark side. It’s a double-edge knife. Just one unthoughtful post can put ourself and others in danger. So,  one should use it judiciously.

In an interesting turn of event, Lockport police posted a thank-you note on 39-year-old Christopher Crego’s Facebook page saying, “It was due to your diligence in keeping us informed that now you are under arrest.”

According to the source, police in western New York said the fugitive all but turned himself in by posting his workplace on Facebook and MySpace.

Mr. Crego, who was wanted since he failed to show up for a sentencing hearing after pleading guilty in the fall to assault and was also charged with drunken driving, drug possession and using a BB gun to kill birds, was arrested on Wednesday at a tattoo parlor where he was working in Terre Haute (teh-ruh Hoht’), Ind.

We have heard a lot of news over the past weeks and months about escaped inmates and wanted criminals taunting the police through Facebook. Now, it looks like the tables have turn and the police are having the last laugh.

John Burge of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, has been living with polycystic kidney disease (PKD) for 16 years. Two years ago, he was told he needed a transplant, but unfortunately could not get a match.

“We felt like we were at the end. We didn’t really feel like there was another option,” said Burge’s wife Katie.

When no donor was found by mid-September, Burge’s son, Matthew, turned to Facebok for the second time.

Less than 30 minutes after making his post on Sept. 18, a 24-year-old friend, Nick Etton, responded. Tests showed that John Burge and Etton were a match.

Etton and Matthew met at Kirkwook Community College several years ago and stayed in touch, but Etton have never met John Burge until he came to Cedar Rapids for blood tests.

“The moment I read the Facebook post — this was something I should do,” Etton said.

“I can’t thank him enough,” Burge said. “What he’s doing is beyond words.”

“I mean you think about it, it’s Christmas, and he’s pretty much giving my family the greatest gift we could ever ask for,” said Matthew.

It’s feel good to come across such heartwarming stories every once in a while.
