Engineers of popular networking sites Facebook, Twitter, and Myspace released a browser bookmarklet called “Don’t Be Evil,” in response to Google’s new “Search Plus Your World” feature.

Google’s “Search Plus Your World” feature is supposed to integrate social network data into search results, but it only pulls data from Google+ and Picasa at the moment.

Twitter criticized changes, saying they artificially inflate Google+ above its natural position if measured by popularity around the web. Moreover, the changes will result in finding the most relevant information difficult.

External commentators have also accused Google of betraying its original aims – to give the broadest view of the most popular links on the web – in order to boost Google+ artificially.

The new bookmarklet, “Don’t Be Evil” (at jab at Google’s informal motto), alters Google search results to make them more like they were before “Search Plus Your World” was launched.

Don’t Be Evil bookmarklet and other resources can be found at FocusOnTheUser.org. To install, click the button that says “Try a More Relevant Google.” Then, drag the “don’t be evil” button into the browser bar of Firefox or Safari. Chrome users can get the extension over at http://www.focusontheuser.org/extensions.php.

While Google insisted that Facebook and Twitter did not allow sufficient access to their sites for Google to be able to integrate results from them into its search, and that Google+ was not being favoured, search engine analyst Danny Sullivan shows that the new “Don’t be evil” tool offers what seems objectively a far more accurate reflection of the popularity of different pages on the web.

The code was created by Blake Ross, director of product at Facebook, with help from Twitter and MySpace.

In this tutorial, i would like to show you how to download a complete photo album in Facebook with the click of a button. Sometimes, it is very time consuming to download photos one by one, view -> right click -> save -> Next -> right click -> save and so on.

I will assume that you have mozilla firefox. This particular task that i am talking about is done with the help of firefox add-on. The add-on is known as Facebook Photo Album Downloader or FacePAD. This add-on allows you to download your friends’ facebook albums with the click of a button.

First of all get this FacePAD add-on here.

Step 1: Install the FacePAD add-on.
1. Click on the “Add to Firefox” button.
2. In the dialog box that appears next click on “install.” When the installation, which takes some seconds, is done you will be notified. Close the dialog box. Restart your web browser.

Step 2 :  Enable cookies and select default download directory.
1.To do that, go to Tools -> Option (in your web browser.)
2. Under Privacy tab, check the “Accept cookies…” option.
3. Under the Main tab, browse or make a new folder for the “Save files to” option. Save the changes.

Step 3:
1. Log in to your Facebook account and browse to the album that you would like to download.
2. Right-click on the album, and select “Download Album with FacePAD.”
3. A dialog box will notify you that FacePAD has begun downloading… click ok and you are done.

You need the Firefox web browser for this trick.  Once your up and running with firefox, grab an addon called FireStatus, a status update addon for multiple social networks, including facebook.

Install the addon then go to ‘tools > addons’ and you will see firestatus put your login information in.You can then update your status withouth actually having the facebook website open within your browser.

There’s now a way to integrate facebook chat with the firefox web browser. After the integration, facebook chat will be located on your left side bar, making it easier to use and navigate.
If you press ‘Ctrl’ first keep it help and then press the ‘B’ key on your keyboard, you will see the sidebar pop in on the left side, so you have an idea of where the chat bar will go.

Step 1

Click Bookmarks at the top to the right of file.

Step 2

Click New Bookmark tab then enter the infromation:
Name: Facebook Chat Bar
Location: http://www.facebook.com/presence/popout.php
Make sure you tick Load this bookmark in sidebar.

Step 3

Login to Facebook then click view to the right of file then select sidebar select  ‘Facebook
Chat Bar’ and start chatting with your Facebook contacts within Firefox.
