FrontierVille

Paradise Life is a new building-sim Facebook game from Icebreak Games.  In Paradise Life you are the owner of an uninhabited tropical island where you can start a new life, build home, start family, and open business away from the far homestead of Zynga’s FrontierVille.

Two minutes into the gameplay, you will find that the game is very much like FrontierVille – cutting trees, growing crops, raising animals, clearing grasses and debris, building different types of buildings, quests, exchanging energy for food, and there is also the bonus coins for picking up dropped items etc.

I decided to play the game anyway as I won’t be needing to learn the game and can use some of the cool gameplay I have acquired playing FrontierVille icon wink Facebook Game Review: Paradise Life .

The game is clearly a clone of Zynga’s FrontierVille, but must admit that there are some refreshing differences and let’s have a look at some of those that I have encountered.

Avatars and other graphic component of the game is better and cuter. In this  island theme FrontierVille imitation game, you will get the chance to bash up crabs and badgers, chop down palm trees and coconut trees, clear oil barrels an wood planks, raise pelicans and lemurs etc.

One big difference encountered is auto scrolling. When your avatar moves towards the edge of the game interface, the screen scrolls itself to put the avatar in focus.

Another big difference is the way you can expand your island. So far, there was no quest to expand the island. Instead one buy terrain tiles with in-game coins and expand the island, which is a cool way to design the island in any way you want once you find yourself neck deep in coins.

As a matter of fact, I have been receiving a couple of letters from my sweetheart icon smile Facebook Game Review: Paradise Life and will soon be starting a family.

Building buildings will give you a hard time as you will have to request building items from friends. You cannot publish for help on your wall asking for items. So, having a dedicated circle of gaming friends is definitely a must.

How well the game will fare is definitely something to see in the near future. Zynga has a lot of bad reputation for ripping off game ideas, but most of its games are doing pretty well. Ironically, an original game from the leading social game developer FrontierVille is seeing a lot of imitations, first with Ravenwood Fair and notw Paradise Life.

Bottom line: Paradise Life is a blatant imitation of FrontierVille but the island theme gives it a refreshing look. Cute and better graphics with added difficulty certainly difficult to write it off outright. Moreover, there maybe many other interesting and alluring components of the game as one progress through the game.

(Play Paradise Life)
