Shanghai-based social game developer and operator, Five Minutes, has released “Happy Farm 2” last February 3rd. Already with over 200 thousand monthly active users, this is a sequel to the much-loved Happy Farm game on Facebook which has 3.1 million monthly active users as of writing. With high hopes to gain more success and popularity, Happy Farm 2 combines elements from very popular games on Facebook such as Farmville, Farm Town, Pet Society, and YoVille.
Like the first Happy Farm installment, the sequel still simulates a farm setting where the player gets to plow the field, buy seeds, plant and water the crops, remove pests, then harvest the crops. Harvesting crops lets the player earn coins that are needed to purchase more stuff for his or her farm. This game also still enables the player to visit a neighbor’s farm and take care of it.
Chief Operating Officer, Xu Cheng, of Five Minutes said that this second installment shifts its game topic from “stealing vegetables” to “giving vegetables” instead. The sequel also offers new features such as giving friends the “seeds of love”. Other new features are the fish pond, where the fish in it is capable of talking, and that fact that players can now enter his or her farm’s homestead just like YoVille. Once he or she is inside the home, the player can decorate it buy buying furniture from the miniature town which is a bit like Pet Society.
