Facebook is proving time and again how it can connect people with their near and dear ones, not only in the virtual world but also in the real world too.

The Jakarta Globe news reports that a woman in Palu, Central Sulawesi, Jakarta, has recently found her older brother, who had been missing for more than three decades, on Facebook.

Nurlianti Dehi told Metro TV on Tuesday that she last saw her brother in 1974 when Anton Dehi, in his early twenties, left Palu to find a job in Manado, North Sulawesi.

Anton maintained good contact with his family back home for the first two years, but in the third year Nuralianti and her family did not receive any news from him. She spent years trying to find her brother but was fruitless.

Her hopes of finding her brother raised when she heard about Facebook. She signed up on the site and began her quest, looking for any Facebook members whose last names were Dehi. Finally, she go tin touch with a girl named Risna Dehi, who turned out to be her niece, Anton’s daughter.

Nurlianti found out that her Anton and his family lived in Jombang, East Java, from her niece. Finally, After more than three decades apart, the two siblings reconnected over the telephone and confirm herself by swapping childhood stories. Nurlianti will visit her long-lost brother in the near future.
