Research in Motion (RIM) has unveiled a beta version of a revamped Facebook for BlackBerry smartphone app, with a host of new features, including Facebook Chat.
Some of the new features include:
Facebook Chat: Users will now be able to see and start Chat conversation with online friends within the application.
Improve News Feed and Navigation: Users can now scroll through News Feeds without the fear of accidentally “like-ing” things. Interacting with the feeds can be done by clicking on the ‘More’ button. RIM has also added a drop-down menu for navigation at the upper left screen.
Improved Notification Bar: The notification bar sits at the upper right corner of the screen and is accessible from anywhere in the app, providing easy access to Notifications, Messages, Friends Request and Chats.
New Profile UI and Profile Information Viewing: The new Profile UI provides Wall, Info, and Photo tabs for improved browsing experience. Users can also view information like contact and basic info on Profiles and Pages.
Facebook for BlackBerry v2.0 beta is “the biggest update to the Facebook application since [they] released v1.0 more than three years ago,” according to RIM blog post.
Note: The beta version is available for download at BlackBerry Beta Zone, and is limited. Also, this initial release is available for BlackBerry 6 users only.
