A black Mississippi man, Dyron L. Hart, was given 3 years of probation for threatening to kill African Americans through a fake Facebook account.

Hart, 20, must also pay a $1,000 fine; perform 150 hours of community service; complete a racial sensitivity course; and get a job, finish his education, or both, the U.S. Attorney’s Office said.

Back in August, ” Hart created a fictitious name and used the photograph of a white supremacist to communicated a threat. He then purported to be a person outraged by the election of President Barack Obama when he used a Facebook account on a computer in Poplarville, Mississippi to transmit a threat to an African American student at Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana indicating he wanted to kill African American individuals because of the election of the President,” said U.S attorney Jim Letten.

He posed as a white supremacist with the alias Colton Brodoux and a photograph of a white supremacist as the avatar in his fake page.

He was originally charged with sending threat from a Poplarville computer to three black students at Nicholls State, where he studied one semester. However, he pleaded guilty to just one count.

The person responsible for the death threats against the son of Colombian president Alvaro Uribe on Facebook has been identified and arrested with the help Facebook and the FBI.

Judicial police commander Luis Ramirez says the man was arrested Tuesday on the outskirts of Colombia’s capital, Bogota. The suspect’s name was not officially released.

The man reportedly posted a very clear death threat against the Colombian president’s son back in July this year on Facebook, “I promise to kill Jeronimo Alberto Uribe, son of Alvaro Uribe.”

The American FBI helped the Colombian intelligence use Facebook to locate the accuse by determining the IP address of the computer from which the threats were made. The investigation lead to the arrest of a youth, allegedly a college student, on Tuesday Night.

This is not the first arrest made possible by Facebook. Barely a week back, a victim traced her attacker through Facebook and we have many more such stories.
