A teenager has been arrested and cautioned for posting a bogus message claiming to be from missing chef Claudia Lawrence on Facebook.
The message, “Hi everyone just let you be aware that I am ok and I am safe and sound. Speak to you all soon. Claudia xxx,” apparently appeared on the “Claudia Lawrence Investigation” Facebook page in November 9, 2009.
“The posting of this Facebook message, claiming to be Claudia Lawrence caused significant anxiety and distress to Claudia’s family and also diverted valuable police resources to pursue a line of inquiry that had no value,” said Det Supt Ray Galloway, who is leading the investigation. “The investigation into the suspected murder of Claudia Lawrence continues and will do so whilst there are positive lines of inquiry to pursue,” add Mr Galloway.
Claudia Lawrence, was last seen leaving work at York University on March 18, 2009.
Meanwhile, family and friends are organizing a special awareness day – The Claudia Lawrence Awareness Day on the eve of her 36th birthday next Friday.
